For the French Toast
For the Caramel Sauce
Method
Prepare the French Toast
- 1
Mix the Egg Mixture
In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- 2
Dip and Cook the Bread
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side. Cook each slice in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
- 3
Add Berries
Once cooked, layer the French toast on a plate and top with fresh mixed berries.
Make the Caramel Sauce
- 4
Prepare the Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and turns a golden amber color.
- 5
Incorporate Butter and Cream
Once the sugar has melted, carefully add the butter and stir until melted. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously until the sauce is smooth.
- 6
Add Rum
Remove from heat and stir in the dark rum. Allow the sauce to cool slightly before using.
