Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dauphinois Gratin

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. In a buttered baking dish, layer the potatoes, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper. Pour the heavy cream over the potatoes and sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside on a paper towel to drain.

  3. 3

    Fry the Egg

In the same skillet with some of the bacon fat, fry the egg to your liking (sunny-side up, over-easy, etc.). Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

    Grill the Bread

Toast the slice of bread in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Dish

On a small plate, place a portion of the dauphinois gratin, top with the fried egg, and place the crispy bacon beside it. Serve with the grilled bread and a glass of milk or juice.
