Ensure your espresso machine is clean and ready to use. Fill the water reservoir with filtered water.

Measure the Coffee
Weigh 18 grams of finely ground espresso coffee for a single shot. For a double shot, use 36 grams.

Tamp the Coffee
Place the ground coffee into the portafilter and use a tamper to firmly compact the coffee evenly.

Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine and start the brewing process. For a short espresso (ristretto), use 30 ml of water; for a long espresso (lungo), use 60 ml.
