Method

Eggs and Bacon

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Fry the Eggs

In the same skillet, crack the eggs and cook to your desired doneness (sunny side up, over easy, etc.). Season with salt and pepper.

Gratin Dauphinois

  1. 3

    Prepare the Potatoes

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.

  2. 4

    Make the Gratin

In a baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour the heavy cream over the top and sprinkle with grated Gruyère cheese.

  3. 5

    Bake

Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

Toast

  1. 6

    Toast the Bread

While the gratin is baking, toast the slices of bread until golden brown and spread with butter.
