Naan Dough
Method
Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, yogurt, and olive oil. Add the yeast mixture once it's frothy.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Prepare Jalapenos and Garlic
Finely chop 2 jalapenos (seeds removed for less heat if desired) and 4 cloves of garlic.
- 6
Incorporate Flavors
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and knead in the chopped jalapenos and garlic until evenly distributed.
- 7
Shape Naan
Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into an oval shape using a rolling pin.
- 8
Cook Naan
Heat a skillet or tandoor over high heat. Cook each naan for about 2-3 minutes on each side until it puffs up and has golden brown spots.
