Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare and combine

Chill a coupe or martini glass by filling it with ice and set aside. In a cocktail shaker add the gin, blue curaçao, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, orange bitters, and egg white (if using).

2

Dry shake (if using egg white)

If you included the egg white, close the shaker and shake vigorously without ice for 12–15 seconds to emulsify and create foam.

3

Wet shake

Add ice to the shaker (about 3/4 full) and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well-chilled and the shaker feels cold to the touch.

4

Strain

Discard the ice from the chilled glass. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a fine strainer to remove ice shards and any large foam lumps, yielding a silky, vividly blue cocktail.

Garnish & Serve

5

Express a lemon twist over the surface of the drink to release oils, then run it around the rim and drop it into the cocktail or place it on the rim.

6

Optionally garnish with a candied orange slice or maraschino cherry for a sweeter accent. Serve immediately.
