Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

Cook Spaghetti
Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and set aside, keeping it warm.
Making the Meat Sauce

Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

Cook Ground Beef
Increase the heat to medium-high and add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Wine and Tomatoes
Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 2 minutes. Then add canned tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring to combine.

Season the Sauce
Sprinkle in dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let the sauce simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving

Combine and Serve
Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce until well coated. Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
