Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract together until well blended.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in blueberries, chocolate chips, or sliced banana into the batter.

  3. 5

    Heat the Griddle

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with a small amount of butter or oil.

  4. 6

    Cook the Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  5. 7

    Keep Warm

Transfer cooked pancakes to a plate and keep warm in a low oven while you cook the remaining pancakes.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Serve warm with butter and maple syrup drizzled on top. Enjoy your old-fashioned pancakes!
