Sushi Rice

Toppings

Method

Preparing the Sushi Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse the Sushi Rice

Place the sushi rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.

  3. 3

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Microwave for 20 seconds to dissolve the sugar and salt. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture while the rice is still warm. Let it cool to room temperature.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 4

    Slice the Fish

Carefully slice the sashimi-grade salmon and tuna into thin pieces using a sharp knife.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Julienne the cucumber and carrot into thin strips. Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and cut into thin slices.

  3. 6

    Prepare Nori

Cut the nori sheets into thin strips or squares for garnish.

Assembling the Chirashi Bowl

  1. 7

    Assemble the Bowl

In a large bowl, place a generous scoop of seasoned sushi rice as the base. Arrange the sliced sashimi, julienned vegetables, radish sprouts, and avocado artfully on top of the rice.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Add the nori strips on top, and serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi on the side for dipping. Enjoy your Chirashi Bowl!
