Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 triangles to create the chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (around 350°F or 175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the chips

Carefully add a handful of tortilla triangles to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and season

Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Prepare the ingredients

Dice the tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper (removing seeds for less heat), and chop the cilantro finely.

  2. 6

    Mix the salsa

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro. Add lime juice and salt, and mix well.

  3. 7

    Let it rest

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
