Burrito Filling
Burrito Assembly
Method
Cooking the Filling
- 1
Cook the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Add Taco Seasoning
Once the beef is browned, drain excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- 3
Prepare the Rice and Beans
While the beef simmers, cook the white rice according to package instructions. In a separate pot, heat the black beans over low heat until warmed through.
Assembling the Burritos
- 4
Prepare the Tortillas
Warm the large flour tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or until pliable.
- 5
Build the Burrito
On each tortilla, layer about 1/4 of the cooked ground beef, 1/4 cup of rice, 1/4 cup of black beans, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, chopped lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
- 6
Roll the Burrito
Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it tightly from the bottom up to enclose the filling. Repeat for remaining tortillas.
