Burger Assembly
Prepare the Burger Patty
1. Season the Beef
In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
2. Form the Patty
Shape the seasoned beef into a patty that is about 1 inch thick and slightly wider than the burger bun.
3. Grill the Patty
Preheat a grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat. Cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until desired doneness is achieved.
Add Toppings
4. Add BBQ Sauce
Once the burger patty is nearly done cooking, brush the BBQ sauce over the top of the patty.
5. Melt the Cheese
Place a slice of pepperjack cheese on top of the BBQ-covered patty. Close the grill lid for about 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
6. Crispy Onions
Sprinkle crispy fried onions on top of the melted cheese just before removing the burger from the grill.
Assemble the Burger
8. Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the lettuce leaf, followed by the grilled patty with toppings, a slice of tomato, and pickles.
9. Finish the Burger
Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently. Serve immediately.
