Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribeye

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Drizzle the olive oil over both sides of the steak. Then, season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, ensuring even coverage.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat. Allow it to get hot, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Once the skillet is hot, add the ribeye steak to the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving it to achieve a nice sear.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Carefully flip the steak using tongs. Add butter and the sprig of fresh rosemary to the pan. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steak with the melted butter.

  6. 6

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time as needed for desired doneness.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious ribeye steak!
