Method
Cooking the Filet Mignon
- 1
Preparation
Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.
- 2
Seasoning
Pat the filet mignon dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

- 4
Searing the Steak
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the seasoned filet mignon in the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a crust.
- 5
Flipping the Steak
Using tongs, flip the filet mignon and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired doneness.
- 6
Basting
In the last minute of cooking, add butter, crushed garlic cloves, and rosemary to the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter using a spoon.
- 7
Resting
Once cooked to your liking, remove the filet mignon from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.
