Raspberry Ingredients

Method

Raspberry Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Raspberries

Rinse the fresh raspberries under cold water to remove any dirt or residue. Gently pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Make the Raspberry Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed raspberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and water. Stir gently to combine.

  3. 3

    Cook the Mixture

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the raspberries break down.

  4. 4

    Thicken the Syrup

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry. Gradually add this slurry to the simmering raspberry mixture while stirring continuously. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the syrup thickens to your desired consistency.

  5. 5

    Add Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the syrup to cool slightly.

  6. 6

    Serve or Store

Use the raspberry syrup immediately over desserts, pancakes, or yogurt, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
