Churro Dough
Method
Churro Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- 2
Mix in Flour
Once boiling, remove the pan from heat and quickly stir in the all-purpose flour until fully incorporated and the mixture forms a ball.
- 3
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Finally, stir in the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- 4
Prepare for Frying
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with paper towels to drain the churros.
- 5
Pipe the Churros
Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle. Pipe strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors to achieve the desired length.
- 6
Fry the Churros
Fry the churros in batches, about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
- 7
Coat in Cinnamon Sugar
In a shallow dish, mix together 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 tbsp ground cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the mixture until fully coated.
