Chopped Brisket

Method

Preparation

1

Sear the Brisket

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the brisket with salt and pepper. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.

2

Cook with Whiskey and Broth

Reduce heat to medium, then add diced onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Pour in the whiskey and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.

3

Add Seasonings

Stir in smoked paprika and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

4

Slow Cook the Brisket

Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Let the brisket cook for about 2-3 hours, or until tender.

5

Shred the Brisket

Once the brisket is tender, remove it from the skillet and let it rest for 10 minutes. Shred the brisket using two forks.

6

Combine and Serve

Return the shredded brisket to the skillet, mix with the sauce, and serve hot.
