Tiramisu Preparation Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. Stir in the dark rum or coffee liqueur and set aside.
- 2
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until pale and creamy. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and well combined.
- 3
- 4
Soak the Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 5
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 6
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 7
Serve
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
