Method

Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat. Once hot, add the steak and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accurate results (130°F for medium-rare).

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water.

  2. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium and simmer until the potatoes are tender (about 15-20 minutes).

  3. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Green Beans

  1. 8

    Prepare the Green Beans

Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them under cold water.

  2. 9

    Sauté the Green Beans

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the green beans and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
