Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Fries

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F). Carefully add the steak fries and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Gravy

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly browned. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and soy sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  3. 3

    Make the Curry Sauce (optional)

In another saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly browned. Gradually whisk in the beef broth. Stir in the curry powder and simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Dish

Place the cooked fries on a serving plate. Pour the gravy or curry sauce over the fries. Serve hot.
