Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, combine the calamansi juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt. Add the beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably a few hours or overnight for better flavor.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onions

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Beef

In the same pan, add the marinated beef (reserve the marinade) and cook over medium-high heat until browned on all sides, about 5-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Marinade

Pour the reserved marinade into the pan with the beef, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.

  5. 5

    Combine and Serve

Add the sautéed onions back to the pan, mix well, and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes. Serve hot with steamed rice.
