Method

Prepare Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

Cook Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion into thin rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and set aside.

Assemble Burger

  1. 6

    Toast Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion rings, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
