Pie Crust

Method

Pie Filling

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pie Crust

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit your pie pan. Transfer the dough to the pie pan and trim the edges. Poke the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.

  4. 4

    Make the Filling

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and cornmeal until smooth.

  5. 5

    Pour Filling Into Crust

Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared pie crust.

  6. 6

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and a bit jiggly in the center.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
