Apfelstrudel Ingredients

Method

Apfelstrudel Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water and mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and bread crumbs. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

After resting, roll the dough out on a floured surface until thin and transparent.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Strudel

Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough, leaving an inch border. Melt the butter and brush it over the filling. Carefully roll the dough, tucking in the edges as you go.

  5. 5

    Bake the Strudel

Place the rolled strudel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with more melted butter. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Slice and serve warm.

Topfenstrudel Directions

  2. 8

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix quark cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

  3. 9

    Roll Out the Dough

After chilling, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a thin rectangle.

  4. 10

Spread the cheese filling evenly over the dough, leaving an inch border. Roll up tightly, tucking in the ends.

  5. 11
