Preparation

  1. 1

    Toast the Bread

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Brush each slice of sourdough bread with olive oil on both sides. Place the slices in the skillet and toast until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash it with a fork until creamy. Squeeze half of the lime juice into the mashed avocado and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the tomato and finely chop the red onion and jalapeño. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeño before chopping. Chop the cilantro and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Layer the Toppings

Spread a generous layer of the mashed avocado on each slice of toasted sourdough bread. Top with diced tomatoes, followed by chopped red onion and jalapeño. Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the top.

  2. 5

    Finish with Lime

Squeeze the remaining lime juice over the assembled toasts for an extra burst of flavor. Season with additional salt and pepper if desired.
