Tomahawk Steak

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the Tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Let it sit for another 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450°F to 500°F).

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Brush the steak with olive oil and place it on the hot grill. Sear each side for about 4-5 minutes until a nice crust forms.

  5. 5

    Add Aromatics

Once seared, add the garlic cloves, rosemary, and thyme to the grill, and then reduce the heat to medium-high.

  6. 6

    Cook to Desired Doneness

Continue cooking the steak, flipping it occasionally, until it reaches your desired internal temperature (about 120°F for rare, 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).

  7. 7

    Baste the Steak

During the last few minutes of cooking, add the butter to the grill and baste the steak with the melted butter using a spoon.

  8. 8

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

  9. 9

    Serve

Slice the steak and serve with your favorite sides.
