Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lobster

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the live Maine lobster and cook for about 8-10 minutes until the shell turns bright red. Remove the lobster from the pot and let it cool. Once cooled, crack the shell and remove the meat, setting it aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filet Mignon

Season the filet mignon generously with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Filet Mignon

In a heavy skillet or grill, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the filet mignon and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time for desired doneness.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic and Butter

In the last minute of cooking, add minced garlic and butter to the skillet. Baste the filet with the melted butter and garlic as it finishes cooking.

  3. 5

    Prepare Lobster Sauce

In a separate small pan, melt butter and add the lobster meat along with lemon juice. Heat through for about 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

Slice the filet mignon and place it on a plate. Top with the lobster meat and drizzle the garlic butter sauce over the top. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
