Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the porterhouse steak out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30-45 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt and black pepper. Let the seasoned steak rest for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill to high heat or heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil to the skillet, allowing it to heat up.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Once the grill or pan is hot, place the steak on it. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until a nice crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steak over using tongs. Add butter, garlic cloves (smash them lightly), and rosemary to the pan or grill. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Baste the Steak

Using a spoon, baste the steak with the melted butter and juices in the pan for added flavor.

  7. 7

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130-135°F (54-57°C).

  8. 8

    Rest the Steak

Once done, remove the steak from heat and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes. This allows juices to redistribute.

  9. 9

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain and serve. Enjoy your perfectly aged porterhouse steak!
