Method
Brewing the Tea
Boil Water
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
Steep Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove from heat and add 4 black tea bags. Let them steep for about 5-7 minutes depending on your desired strength.
Remove Tea Bags
After steeping, carefully remove the tea bags from the saucepan.
Sweetening and Flavoring
Add Sugar
While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
Add Lemon Juice
Stir in 1 cup of fresh lemon juice to the sweetened tea mixture.
Add Fresh Mint
Gently add 1 cup of fresh mint leaves to the tea and let it steep for an additional 10 minutes.
Cooling and Serving
Cool the Tea
After steeping with the mint, allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Serve with Ice
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes (about 1 cup of ice per glass) and pour the chilled tea over the ice.
