Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Take a rocks glass (or an old fashioned glass) and place it on a flat surface.

  2. 2

    Muddle the Sugar Cube

Place the sugar cube in the glass. Add 1 teaspoon of water and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top of the cube.

  3. 3

    Muddle Together

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, crush the sugar cube and mix it with the bitters and water until it is dissolved.

  4. 4

    Add Bourbon

Pour 2 ounces of bourbon into the glass over the muddled sugar mixture.

  5. 5

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, preferably one large cube, to chill the drink without watering it down too quickly.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Twist the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass. Add a maraschino cherry on top as a garnish.

  7. 7

    Serve

Stir gently to combine the flavors, then enjoy your classic Old Fashioned.
