Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the stuffing.

  2. 2

    Cube the bread

Cut the French bread into small cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Sauté vegetables

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the diced onion and celery, and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add herbs and garlic

Stir in the chopped sage, thyme, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 5

    Mix the ingredients

Pour the sautéed vegetable mixture over the cubed bread. Add the chicken broth, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until the bread is evenly coated with the broth and the vegetables are distributed throughout.

  2. 6

    Transfer to baking dish

Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the stuffing

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and crispy.
