Dough Ingredients

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm milk (1 cup) and sugar (1 tbsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tbsp) over the milk mixture. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (4 cups) and salt (1 tsp). Stir to mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter (1 tbsp), and beaten egg (1 large). Mix until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour as needed.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 6

    Shape the Rolls

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.

  2. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the rolls with a cloth and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes, until they puff up.

  3. 8

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the rolls are rising.

  4. 9

    Bake the Rolls

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.

  5. 10

    Brush with Butter

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter.

Butter Preparation

  1. 11

    Mix Butter

In a small bowl, combine softened unsalted butter (1 stick), garlic powder (1 tsp), and chopped fresh parsley (2 tbsp). Mix until well combined.

  2. 12

    Serve

Serve the warm dinner rolls with the garlic parsley butter on the side.
