Method
Cooking Directions
Prepare the Keftedes
In a large bowl, combine ground beef or lamb, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper, and red chili flakes (if using). Mix until well combined.
Shape the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
Cook the Keftedes
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
Add Tomato Sauce
Once the meatballs are browned, pour the canned tomato sauce over them. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Serve with Cheese
After simmering, sprinkle feta cheese and American cheese over the meatballs. Cover the skillet for a few minutes to let the cheese melt. Serve hot.
