Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tofu

Press the firm tofu with a heavy object for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture. Once pressed, cut it into bite-sized cubes.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

While the tofu is being pressed, chop the bell pepper, slice the carrot into thin rounds, and prepare the broccoli florets.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook Tofu

In a large non-stick skillet, heat a tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the cubed tofu and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add a little more sesame oil if needed. Add the chopped bell pepper, broccoli florets, and sliced carrots. Sauté for approximately 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.

  3. 5

    Prepare Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 6

    Combine Tofu and Sauce

Return the cooked tofu to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Pour the sauce over the tofu and veggies, stirring gently to coat everything evenly. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.

  5. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, sprinkle sesame seeds on top, and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
