Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 2
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4
Finish the Sauce
Once the sauce has thickened, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well incorporated.
Garlic Bread Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.
- 6
Toast the Bread
Slice the baguette or Italian bread in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the bread on a baking sheet.
- 7
Bake
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove from oven and slice into pieces.
Final Assembly
- 8
Combine Everything
Serve the cooked spaghetti topped with the sauce, and enjoy with the warm garlic bread on the side.
