Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet, add olive oil and heat over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Optional Flavoring

During the last minute of cooking, add a sprig of fresh rosemary to the pan for added flavor.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the cubed russet potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Cook the Garlic

In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat and add the minced garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Do not let the garlic brown.

  3. 8

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the cooked garlic and butter mixture, remaining butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 9

    Mix Until Smooth

Using a potato masher or electric mixer, mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
