For the Mozzarella Sticks
For the Marinara Sauce
Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
- 2
Coat the Mozzarella Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first into the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat them in the seasoned breadcrumbs. Make sure each stick is evenly coated.
- 3
Freeze the Mozzarella Sticks
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps to keep the cheese from melting too quickly while frying.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
For the Marinara Sauce
- 6
- 7
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 9
Serve the Sauce
Once the sauce is thickened, remove from heat and serve warm alongside the mozzarella sticks.
