Onions
To Serve
Method
Prepare the Burger Patties
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
Cook the Patties
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 4
Cook the Patties
Add the burger patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness, or until cooked to your desired temperature.
Prepare the Onions
- 5
Slice the Onion
While the patties are cooking, slice the medium onion into thin rings.
- 6
Make the Gravy
- 7
- 8
Add Broth and Seasoning
Slowly whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add salt and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
Assemble the Burger Plate
- 9
Build the Burgers
Place each burger patty on a bun, top with sautéed onions, and cheese if desired. Add lettuce and tomato slices.
- 10
Serve with Gravy
Serve the burgers on a plate with a generous ladle of gravy poured over the top.
