Method
Marinating the Chicken
- 1
Prepare Marinade
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Breading the Chicken
- 3
Prepare Breading
In a shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined.
- 4
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
Frying the Chicken
- 5
Heat Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Carefully place the breaded chicken pieces in the hot oil. Fry for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
- 7
Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 8
Prepare Buns
Spread 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each burger bun.
- 9
Add Chicken and Lettuce
Place a piece of fried chicken on top of the mayonnaise, followed by a lettuce leaf.
- 10
Top with the other half of the bun and serve with French fries or coleslaw on the side.
