Fish Sandwich

Fries or Coleslaw

Method

Fish Sandwich

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  2. 2

    Batter the Fish

In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. Dip each fish fillet into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, coating well.

  3. 3

    Fry the Fish

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the coated fish fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Toast the burger buns lightly. Place a piece of fried fish on the bottom bun, add a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, and a generous dollop of tartar sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.

Fries or Coleslaw

  1. 5

    Prepare the Fries

Wash and cut the potatoes into thin strips. Soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 6

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Drain and pat dry the soaked potatoes, then fry in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

  3. 7

    Prepare the Coleslaw (optional)

In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and shredded carrots. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, vinegar, and sugar until smooth. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots, and toss to combine.
