Method
Preparation of Rice
- 1
Soak the Sticky Rice
Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rinsed rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Steam the Sticky Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice over simmering water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is tender and translucent.
Coconut Sauce Preparation
- 3
Make Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring gently until the sugar dissolves, but do not bring to a boil.
- 4
Combine Rice and Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Pour half of the coconut sauce over the rice and mix well. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Mango Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Mango
While the rice is absorbing the coconut sauce, peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin pieces.
Serving
- 6
Plate the Dish
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices beside it, and drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top.
- 7
Garnish
Sprinkle sesame seeds over the dish and add fresh mint leaves for garnish.
