Filling Preparation
- 1
Mix the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, finely chopped green onions, garlic powder, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and smooth.
Assembling the Rangoon
- 2
Prepare the Wontons
Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- 3
Seal the Wontons
Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with a bit of water using your finger. Fold the wrapper over to form a triangle and press the edges to seal. You can also pinch the corners together for a decorative touch.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature by dropping a small piece of wonton wrapper into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.
- 5
Fry the Rangoon
Carefully add the sealed wontons to the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally for even cooking. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serving
- 6
Serve Hot
Serve the Crab Rangoon hot with sweet and sour sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
