Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook the Rigatoni

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the rigatoni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making the Bolognese Sauce

  1. 2

    Prepare the Sauce

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 3

    Cook the Beef

Add the ground Canadian Angus beef to the pan. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Garlic and Tomatoes

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Then, add the crushed San Marzano tomatoes, red wine, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combining and Serving

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked rigatoni to the sauce and stir until well combined.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the pasta in bowls, topped with grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.
