Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes or until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast is activated, pour it into the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll or stretch it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 9

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Add your choice of two toppings: either fresh basil leaves and pepperoni slices, or sliced bell peppers and basil.

  5. 10

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Lightly drizzle olive oil over the top of the pizza for added flavor.

  6. 11

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 12

    Slice and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice, and enjoy your homemade Neapolitan pizza!
