Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Flavorings

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Lemon Glaze Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare the Glaze

In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  2. 9

    Glaze the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, pour the lemon glaze over the top, allowing it to drizzle down the sides. Let the glaze set for a few minutes.
