Prepare the Chicken

Pound the Chicken
Place the chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap and use a meat mallet to pound them to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.

Set up Breading Station
In three shallow dishes, place the flour in the first dish, beat the eggs in the second dish, and place the breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper in the third dish.

Bread the Chicken
Coat each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs and finally coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Layer the Ingredients
In a baking dish, spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the fried chicken cutlets on top of the sauce, then spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken.

Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the sauce-covered chicken.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
