Pasta and Sauce

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Meat (Optional)

If using meat, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add ground beef or Italian sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese, and cooked meat (if using). Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Dish

Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly. Top with shredded mozzarella and remaining Parmesan cheese.

  5. 5

    Bake

Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  6. 6

    Serve

Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your baked ziti!
