Whip the Egg Whites
In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form. If using, add food coloring and mix until fully incorporated.
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the whipped egg whites using a spatula until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- 4
Pipe the Macarons
Transfer the macaron batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each.
- 5
Rest the Macarons
Let the piped macarons rest at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes until a skin forms on the surface.
- 6
Bake
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Bake the macarons for 15-20 minutes, or until they have risen and are firm to the touch. Let cool completely.
