Method

Prepare the Apple Compote

  1. 1

    Cook the Apples

In a medium saucepan, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft and the mixture is bubbly, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Make the Honey Cream Cheese Filling

  1. 2

    Mix the Filling

In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and honey until smooth. Set aside.

Prepare the Challah French Toast

  1. 3

    Whisk the Egg Mixture

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.

  2. 4

    Dip the Challah

Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each slice of challah in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak briefly, then place it in the skillet.

  3. 5

    Cook the French Toast

Cook each slice for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.

Assemble and Serve

  1. 6

    Layer and Serve

Spread the honey cream cheese filling between two slices of French toast, top with apple compote, and drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
