Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Rub this seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the top sirloin steak.

  2. 2

    Preheat Pan

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and allow it to heat until it shimmers.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the seasoned top sirloin steak in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, allowing a crust to form.

  2. 4

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steak over and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness (internal temperature of 130°F for medium-rare).

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and allow it to rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This helps to retain the juices.
